Asbestos floor tiles
What this usually means
9x9 inch thermoplastic floor tiles installed 1950s-80s commonly contain asbestos. The bitumen adhesive may also contain asbestos. Intact tiles are very low risk; lifting them requires care.
Why it matters
Disturbance is the issue, not presence. Lifted tiles release fibres unless wetted and bagged.
