How we handle your data

About MyPropertyScan

MyPropertyScan is a property information service that generates summaries of publicly available UK property datasets for a given address. It is operated by BiteRight Ltd. We aim to handle your data responsibly and only collect what is necessary to provide the service.

What data we collect

When you use MyPropertyScan, we collect:

• •The address you enter. We use this to query third-party public datasets and generate your report. We retain the report data so you can return to it later via the same link.
• •Your email address, if you buy a report or ask for an access link. When you pay for a full report, Stripe collects your email address at checkout and passes it to us. We store it against the purchase and use it to email you the report and a secure link to get back to it. If you use “Email a secure access link” on a report, the email address you type is used to look up the purchase and send that link.
• •Technical logs. Basic server and application logs may be retained for reliability monitoring and to diagnose errors.

Apart from that email address, we do not ask you for personal details or to create an account unless you contact us directly.

Payment data

If you purchase the full report, payment is processed by Stripe. We never see, receive, or store your card details. Stripe operates under its own privacy policy and security standards. We receive confirmation from Stripe that a payment has been completed, which is used to unlock your report.

How we use your data

The address you provide is used to query the public UK datasets listed below and to generate your property report. If you click a partner link, we also record the postcode area (for example “SW”, not your full address) in our own click log, to measure which links are useful. We do not use your address for marketing, and we do not sell it or pass it to partners.

Technical analytics data may be used to monitor service reliability and improve performance.

Third-party services we use

To generate your report, we query a number of publicly available UK datasets, which may include data from: the Environment Agency, the British Geological Survey (BGS), HM Land Registry, UK Police, the Government EPC Register, Ofsted, the Department for Transport, and Ofcom. Availability of data from these sources may vary by property and location, not all checks will return results for every address.

We also use: Stripe for payment processing and Vercel for hosting.

Google Maps Places (address search). Pages with our address search box load the Google Maps JavaScript library (Google LLC) from maps.googleapis.com, with the Places library, to provide address autocomplete. As you type in the box, the text you enter is sent to Google to return address suggestions, along with the usual details your browser sends with any request, such as your IP address. The library may also request the Roboto font from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). It loads to power the search box, whether or not you accept analytics on our cookie banner: declining controls Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics only. Google's own privacy policy applies to what it receives.

Ahrefs. Our pages include an Ahrefs site-verification tag, which is a line of page markup that lets Ahrefs confirm we own the site; it does not make a request to Ahrefs from your browser. Our code also contains an Ahrefs Web Analytics script (analytics.ahrefs.com), but that script is not currently added to any page, so your browser does not load it. If it is switched on, we will update this page.

Cloudflare (CDN and security). This site is served through Cloudflare, which acts as a content delivery network and provides security protection, so your requests for our pages pass through Cloudflare's network. Cloudflare may also add a small script to our pages that protects email addresses shown on them from scrapers. If Cloudflare Web Analytics is enabled for this site, it adds a small script that measures page performance; Cloudflare states that it does not collect or use visitors' personal data. We are checking that configuration and will update this page if it changes. These services run whether or not you accept the analytics on our cookie banner: declining controls Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics only.

The Your First Home scheme calculator. The figures you type into the scheme calculator, such as a price, deposit, cash or interest rate, are worked out in your browser. They are not sent to us or to analytics. If you accept analytics, we record only that the calculator was used and a category for the kind of result it showed, never the amounts.

Analytics (consent-based). If you accept analytics on our cookie banner, we load Google Analytics (Google LLC, from www.googletagmanager.com) and Vercel Analytics to see how buyer pages are used. Neither is loaded until you accept, and you can decline without losing any functionality.

Affiliate partner links (Awin). Some pages include partner links, such as insurance, conveyancing, mortgage or removals services. We may receive a fee if you click a partner link and then buy or request a quote. Most of these links go through the Awin affiliate network, which may record the click and set its own cookies on its own website when you follow the link. That happens on the partner network's site, whether or not you accepted analytics here, and is covered by its own privacy policy. We do not load Awin scripts on our pages. The referral reference we add to a partner link contains the placement, the service, a risk category, the link position, and a short code taken from the start of your report reference. It is not anonymous, but we strip email addresses and UK postcodes from it. We do not put your email address, street address or financial details into partner links. When you click one, we also record on our own systems which partner and service it was, your postcode area and risk level, and the report it came from, so we can measure which links are useful.

Data retention

Your report is retained so you can access it again using the same link. We do not have a fixed retention period at this time, but we aim to keep data only for as long as it is reasonably useful for the service.

We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party.
